ENGINEERING MATERIAL RESEARCH

Responsive Testing And Material Research Since 1989.

ENGINEERING MATERIAL RESEARCH (EMR) offers material testing services that include tensile, compression, fracture toughness, J-Integral, K-r, constant and variable amplitude fatigue, and fatigue crack growth rate tests.

MTSŪ servo-hydraulically controlled load frames provide testing up to 100,000 lbs (5E5 N) tension and compression. Electro-mechanical ball screw driven machines are available for tests requiring long displacements under exacting conditions.

Specimen Testing

Load frames can be configured for low/high temperature, -100F to 1800F (-75C to 1000C), humidity, fog, salt spray, inert and vacuum environments.

Hydraulic Grips For Tension Testing

EMR can provide custom software solutions to control and acquire data to meet the unique needs of your test requirements.

Composite Panel Punch-through Test

A composite panel push-thru test is shown above.

Component Testing

EMR has structural and table testing frames to evaluate component tests that do not easily fit into uniaxial load frames.

Chair Seat Test

Tests of this type include furniture, electrical component, inner sole compression, torsion, ground vehicle component, and agricultural wheel fatigue tests.

Environment Testing

Environment chambers can provide cold, hot-dry, hot-wet conditions for composite materials and product evaluation.

ASTM D2919 and ASTM D5229 are examples where long term environment conditioning of test specimens is required.

Air Flow Simulation

EMR provides air flow testing using a continous flow low speed wind tunnel (18 x 18" test area) and higher flows using a 100 psig, 600 ft3 blowdown capability.

Different test sections and adapters can be fitted.

An investigation of noise attenuation methods during the operation of an aircraft cabin outflow valve is an example of how this facility may help provide practical information to solve problems.
